XR in Wisconsin Expo and Mixer

Immersive technology (XR), defined as virtual, augmented, mixed reality is being used in innovative and creative ways to enhance education, training, and workforce development. Spatial computing, A/I and machine learning are all having an impact in this space as well.Organizations, educational institutions, and individuals from S.E. Wisconsin that are using the latest immersive technology (VR/AR/XR), spatial computing, in the areas of education and workforce development.

The event will feature educators and individuals from Wisconsin that have used XR technology.
They will share how they incorporated the technology, the results and impact that were achieved.
There will be stations with the latest VR technology and examples of educational and workforce development applications and experiences.
Members of the general public, educators, and students are welcome to attend and try out demos and interact with industry experts.
This is an in-person and virtual event.

Dr. Peggy James Â
Professor Peggy James is Dean Emeritus the College of Social Sciences and Professional Studies (CSSPS) and former Director of the Center for Research in Innovation and Smart Cities at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside
Dr. Chris Wiley
Dr. Wiley founded the Immersive Media Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, an interdisciplinary research space focusing on emerging creative technologies such as extended reality and generative AI. Willey has written textbooks on art and design, curated art exhibitions at museums, and exhibited internationally.Â
Bill Ballo
Bill leads the Academic Technology wing of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at Madison College in Madison WI. Bill is a Pioneer in remote EMS education including Virtual Reality and is now putting his skills and knowledge to use throughout all of Madison College in the Strategic Academic Initiatives department. In 2019 Bill was selected as the EMS Instructor of the Year for the State of Wisconsin by the Wisconsin EMS Association; Bill’s nomination for the award came directly from his students.
