Code & Canvas is a networking mixer designed to connect Milwaukee’s creative professionals with the tech community. The event addresses the need for more diverse talent in Wisconsin’s tech sector while helping creative professionals understand pathways into tech careers.
The mixer brings together visual artists, musicians, content creators, and designers with tech company recruiters, startup founders, and tech professionals looking for creative collaborators. Through structured networking and organic social opportunities, attendees will make meaningful connections that could lead to jobs, freelance work, mentorships, or collaborative projects.
Event format:
– 6:00-6:30 PM: Check-in and welcome reception
– 6:30-7:30 PM: Structured speed networking (5-minute rotations to ensure everyone makes multiple connections)
– 7:30-8:30 PM: Open mic showcase where creatives and tech professionals can present work or opportunities
– 8:30-10:00 PM: Open networking with DJ sets and casual conversation
The event is hosted at CANNI Milwaukee, providing a comfortable, creative atmosphere that differs from traditional corporate networking events. Multiple DJs will perform throughout the evening, creating an environment where both creative and tech professionals feel welcome.
This collaboration between YMD Media and Milky Way Tech Hub supports Wisconsin Tech Month’s goal of growing and diversifying our state’s tech workforce. By creating connections between these communities, we help build a stronger, more inclusive tech ecosystem in Milwaukee.
