Meet Abby Kursel, a dynamic force in Wisconsin’s tech ecosystem and a true trailblazer in venture capital. Abby’s journey embodies the spirit of WI Tech Month’s “Community” theme for Week 2, highlighting inspiring leaders who transform communities through technology.
Abby’s tech adventure began after she graduated from UW-Madison with a BBA in Marketing. She joined gener8tor, where her unwavering dedication and visionary leadership have left an indelible mark. As the first full-time employee, Abby played a pivotal role in growing gener8tor into a powerhouse with over 120 employees serving 40+ markets across North America and Europe.
For six remarkable years, Abby led gener8tor’s “gBETA” pre-accelerator program. Under her guidance, the program thrived, expanding rapidly into new markets and helping startups reach their full potential. She mentored team members, nurturing their venture skills and forging connections between startups and investors.
Abby’s journey continued as she built gener8tor’s venture network, fostering relationships with venture capitalists and creating a robust structure to link gener8tor’s 1,000+ startups with a network of 4,000+ investors. Today, she heads gener8tor’s Investment Accelerators, a team of 40+ individuals spanning the U.S. and Europe.
Through the Investment Accelerators, Abby has played a pivotal role in helping 300+ companies raise nearly $1 billion in capital. Her impact on Wisconsin’s tech landscape is immeasurable, and she remains deeply committed to supporting startups and advancing gener8tor’s growth.
